Calculate the maximum output power of the turbine

The output power of the water turbine can be different based on the volume of water passing through and the amount of water falling. With the following calculator, you can calculate the maximum output power from the turbine and choose or order the best turbine based on the available output power.

To calculate the speed of water flow, you can place a light object like a leaf on the surface of the water and measure the time it takes for this object to travel a certain distance (for example, 10 meters) to get the speed of water flow. You must enter the water speed in meters per second in the section related to speed.

In channels that do not have a fixed width and length for water to pass, you should consider the average width and depth of the channel and enter it in meters in the specified section.

To calculate the amount of water fall, measure the difference in height of the water level from the upper level to the lower level vertically and enter it in meters in the relevant section.
