Python Series Turbine
Kaplan Type Low Head Water Turbine
Kaplan Type Low Head Water Turbine
5 to 100 KW
Python series water turbine is a Kaplan axial flow turbine, which is suitable for passing flows of more than one square meter and with a head between 2 and 10 meters. This type of turbines can be installed by the rivers or at the outlet of fish farming centers and when the water flow enters the channel and the water passes over the turbine blades, electric energy is produced.
This type of turbines have a good performance in the output power range of 5 to 100 kW, and in order to install and operate Python series water turbines, the water flow path must be diverted and the water must be directed into the channels related to this turbine.
Prototype produced from the Python series
This water turbine, which is showed in the pictures and videos below, was installed at the water outlet of a fish farm on Haraz road (Mazandaran , Iran). One of the water outlets of this complex, which was chosen to install the turbine, had 1.5 to 2 cubic meters of water with a height difference of about 3 meters. Based on the output water flow rate and water drop height, Python series water turbine with output power of 20 kW was designed and produced.
This water turbine is of the low Kaplan head type and has an efficiency of about 85%. The average life of this type of turbine is estimated between 15 and 20 years depending on the type of protection and maintenance.
The turbine was installed and tested in June 2019 on the Haraz road and at the exit of a fish farm.
